This meeting started by moving from the fire station to Tina's house as they forgot to unlock the door & would not answer the phone. Again.
Louann Keller gave an interesting talk on genetics, centering on mice & chickens, but incorporating other species as well. Much of the information could easily be used for other types of animals. Noting the differences between in breeding & line breeding and how quickly a trait can be made or lost. The results of specific breeding can be both helpful & detrimental, but how to lessen the down-side risks. There is currently a noticable & wide gap between "experienced breeding" and genetics based on science.
The refreshments were juice, coffee, grapes & chocolate cake provided by Tina and chocolate chip cookies from Louann.
